Are academic products limited in any way?
ILOG academic licenses have no limitations; they are identical to ILOG's full-powered commercial software but offered under special terms and at significantly reduced pricing.
Are ILOG academic licenses perpetual licenses?
ILOG academic single-user and academic department licenses are perpetual licenses. The ILOG academic teaching license is a one-year license that can be renewed each year.
What about version updates and technical support?
Updates to new versions are provided at highly discounted rates. Academic licensees are offered technical support on an as-available basis, by e-mail.
What are the licensing configuration options?
Academic licenses are provided in four forms:
- Single-user license
Limited to a single user on a single machine
- Two-user license
Supports two simultaneous users on a network
- Department license
A 10-user floating license, which supports 10 simultaneous users on a network
- Teaching license
A one-year, 10-user floating license, which supports 10 simultaneous users on a network and requires the purchase of a single-user, �instructor� license of the same product
What restrictions apply to department licenses?
Department licenses allow up to 10 simultaneous users to access the software on a network. Only one platform (computer/operating system combination) can be supported per department license. Department licenses are not available for all platforms.
Optimization licenses are offered in bundles. What does this mean?
You may buy bundles of two to five products of your choice. There are two base products that you can use independently: ILOG CPLEX and ILOG Solver. On top of Solver you can add ILOG Scheduler, Dispatcher and Configurator. The best way to get started is to bundle ILOG OPL Studio with CPLEX or Solver.
Can I still use ILOG Planner with ILOG Solver?
ILOG Planner does not exist as an add-on to ILOG Solver anymore. ILOG Planner and ILOG CPLEX have now become one single and stand-alone product, allowing access to both the C and C++ interfaces.
Why are there two different prices for OPL Studio?
OPL Studio includes access to CPLEX, Solver and Scheduler algorithms, but not the CPLEX, Solver and Scheduler libraries. If you plan to purchase an academic license for one of the optimization engines, you can buy ILOG OPL Studio, at the same time, for half the regular price.

What commitments are required for an academic teaching license?
You must execute an ILOG Academic License Agreement. You commit to using the latest version of at least one ILOG product as part of a training program for a whole class.
What is the configuration of academic teaching licenses?
The instructor needs to purchase a single-user license for him or herself in order to qualify for the discounted rates of our teaching program. Academic teaching licenses are offered as 10-user floating licenses, supporting up to 10 simultaneous users on a network.
